PROCESS PAPER
I had a very hard time picking on a topic for this NHD. I did not want it to be a thing I was not interested in so I thought to myself “what interest me?” then I finally decided that I’ve always been fascinated with Alexander Bell and his work so I chose him and his work on telecommunication and the deaf community. He was a very humble man and never let the money get to him. I wanted to learn the struggles he faced and what his early life was like and how he got to where he was.
Without the telephone, we would still be sending out letters and it would take forever to receive. Because of Bell’s invention, it makes it easier to communicate with your love ones faster and more efficient. Life would be so hard right now if we had to wait 2-3 days for a response especially if it was urgent. A phone is the most heaviest telecommunication we have right now. We would not be able to do several things without a phone and weather people like it or not, its essential for numerous things. Thats what interest me the most about this projects, that I would like to learn more about how exactly did the telephone begin and how it was invented. From my experience, I would not be able to live without a phone because its a huge thing for me. I’m a huge “technology freak” and this just interest me. Without the first telephone then it would be complicated to communicate with people when they are not there.
I chose the website format because I like the fact that you can see it visually and you can also show your creativity side of it as well with a website. Also, as I said earlier, I made a huge technology person so I am better off with technology then writing an essay or building an exhibit. With a website, you can incorporate so much more to your project and it can have various information on it. I just took various clips and pictures on youtube and my research and put them on the titles that I want to put them in. I made it easy by putting navigations on the website in the end of the page. I color coded the quotes that Bell said in past times and put them in a bigger font.
My topic relates to the NHD theme “Leadership and legacy” because since Bell invented the telephone and millions of people still used it today he left a legacy. He showed leadership by building a school for the deaf and worked on it for several years. Alexander Bell made numerous of other inventions as well but the ones listed in the website were the main ones. He did numerous things and showed tremendous leadership and his inventions will live on forever in history. He contributed to several things even though he was not the “main” inventor for most of them.
